About Me

Hey!
My name is Sharleigh! I am the founder of Decision Cosmetics and if you have been
following for a little while, then you probably know exactly who I am and what
brought me to starting this business.

If not, well, strap in.

Starting a cosmetic business has always been my dream! But, like any normal
dream, I went through university completing a Chemistry degree. University was the most fun I have ever had. 

Whilst I was at university, I had bad acne that really affected me, like it does for most people who suffer with acne. I went on Roaccutane, which is an intense acne
medication and in 12 months I went from intense oily skin to intense dry skin. I, with
my chemistry knowledge, started to look for things that helped my dry skin. I looked and to be honest I didn’t find anything that fixed it. Just topical moisturisers that just stopped it from LOOKING dry.

I wore makeup to try and cover the redness and then I had to wash the makeup off, otherwise I would suffer from more break outs. So, I would use a face wash and then my skin would feel super tight and dry. I would then apply a moisturiser and serum and virtually anything that said it would help to “hydrate and moisturise”. They never actually cured any of my dry skin issues! I then, would do the same thing the next day: apply makeup, wash it off and apply unhelpful moisturisers. My skin hated me, and I lost faith in the products I was using.

I noticed that as my chemistry knowledge increased, my understanding of the
ingredient list of the products I was using didn’t really change. I still had to spend
hours working out what the ingredients were and what reasons they were used for. I
could never work out which ones I was sensitive too because there is so
many ingredients.

Well, this is where my own research began! I spent so long experimenting at home
with soap making and oils. You name it, I tried it! I gifted what I made to family and
that’s about as far as it went.

That’s until now. I am busy with work and for the last couple of years have gotten really good at making products at home.

In April of 2024 I spent all my free time trialling different soap combinations and oils. I sent out free samples to all of you guys and hilariously made all my work friends and family try all of the different formulas I created.

Once I found one that was perfect and had good feedback, I used it and within three days my skin irritation was gone and I could put my sunscreen on without it stinging. Washing my face was no longer something I dreaded. I have been using my face wash now for as long as it has existed which is months and months and still, my skin is amazing! No dry skin issues, my redness has completely gone, my break outs are way less and I can even use face masks and other products that I couldn’t before.

My mission in this business?
If you can’t read ingredient lists and can’t understand what ingredients you are
sensitive to. If you don’t know where to focus your money on skincare and have dry,
sensitive skin that hurts, you are the person I want to make a face wash for!
I want you to have somewhere you can go and trust that the ingredients aren’t
confusing, the product works, and you aren’t wasting your money! That’s why I have made a face wash with five natural ingredients, that works. Thats my mission.
